Praxair is a longtime provider of USP grade oxygen and bulk oxygen storage equipment to medical facilities for the treatment or prevention of insufficient oxygen in the blood. Indication for use: hypoxemia and hypoxia.
Medical Air USP is used extensively in the ICU, PICU and NICU areas and with pulmonary nebulizers, as indicated for hyperoxia to reduce the risk of excess oxygen in the lungs or other body tissue during mechanical
ventilation or surgical procedures.
Nitrogen NF is indicated for hypoxic challenge testing and is often used in preflight lung testing to measure a person’s response to a simulated aircraft cabin environment. It is also used to power medical devices, as a cryogen to freeze and preserve
blood, tissue and other biological specimens, and to freeze and destroy diseased tissue in cryosurgery and dermatology.
Nitrous oxide USP is indicated for analgesia. Commonly used by the healthcare industry as an analgesic, an adjunct to anesthesia, and as a cryogen in cryosurgery.
Mixtures containing helium USP is indicated for the treatment of fixed partial upper obstruction or increased airway resistance helping patients breathe easier. It is also used in liquefied form to help MRI machines reach a super conductance state in
order to produce high-resolution body images without radiation exposure.
Carbon dioxide USP is indicated for use in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation therapy or respiratory simulation.
Used in trace amounts, carbon monoxide is indicated for lung diffusion testing to assess lung gas exchange function.
